I often need to request transition with EGLL when flying out of EGWU, when doing this with the tower I am invariably granted a simple clearance at or above 3000, however, at times the approach controller will send me a guard call – what is the appropriate response here? I don’t want to get any violations and seek to keep it as realistic as possible on ES.
If the approach sends an on guard, you can switch to their frequency, and from there request departure. I would always contact approach before tower if you’re departing. I only contact tower if approach is offline, since tower should typically only be concerned with aircraft arriving or departing.
