I am at YSSY at the International Bay 53 and I have been waiting for a pushback for about 15 minutes now. The ground controler has allowed more than 8 people after me to pushback and taxi but when I request for a pushback, they tell me to “hold postition”. Why is that?
There’s multiple potential reasons (e.g. traffic flow control).
I suggest you politely reach out to the controller privately if you want clarification, they can then look at their replay and hopefully give you an answer.
I think there is/was a gate hold in effect as there was so much traffic (basically stops any new pushbacks until some of the traffic clears)
As of right now there’s at least a partial gate hold in effect due to congestion. They’re holding people on one side of the airport.
