Report of Recurring Frequency Change Bug and Request for Violation Review

My name is Adhithya, I am writing to report a recurring issue I have encountered with the frequency change function and to request a review of a recent violation on my profile.

On July 21, 2024, at 06:45 UTC, while operating at KEWR, I experienced a problem when attempting to switch my frequency to Tower during my final approach. Despite multiple attempts to change the frequency manually, I remained on the same frequency due to what appears to be a software bug. This issue forced me to climb out of the final approach and request a diversion to an alternate airport. Unfortunately, I was reported for not following instructions and subsequently disconnected from the server.

This incident was not an isolated case. Three days prior, I encountered a similar problem where the approach controller did not receive any of my messages despite being on the correct frequency. On both occasions, I took the necessary steps to leave the airspace safely, but the resulting violations have been a negative mark on my otherwise clean record.

I have contacted the controller involved in the most recent incident and provided a detailed explanation, along with a screenshot demonstrating the issue. I have requested that the controller remove the violation from my profile, as it was caused by a technical issue beyond my control.

As a long-time player of Infinite Flight, this has been a frustrating experience. I have always taken pride in maintaining a clean record and adhering to all ATC instructions. The recurrence of this frequency change bug has negatively impacted my experience and is something I hope can be resolved promptly.

I kindly request that you investigate this issue and review the violation on my profile. Addressing this bug will greatly enhance the user experience for myself and other pilots who may encounter similar problems.

When did the ATC issues first start?
Did something change?

Is the network you are connected to using a VPN?
VPNs are known to cause communication issues.

Could you try another (Wi-Fi) network to see if that makes any difference?

For the Past Few days after i took the subscription. My last flight was on April.

i don’t know. After my first report for lack of communication, i face two issues at that time:-

  1. i was unable to tune to ATIS on that flight
  2. Messages where not received by the Tower, even though ground, tower at departure airport and Appoach Can receive me.

After the first report, i uninstalled my App from ipad and installed again thinking it was a glitch. but it still happen at todays flight.

i don’t think so… i tried switching my Wifi to other in both cases. but it didn’t got fixed.

There are still some other things you could try yourself:

  • restart/reboot the device to see if that makes a difference
  • check the network connection by running a speedtest tool like https://www.speedtest.net/ and post a screenshot of the results
  • try a mobile network, by using your phone as a hotspot, to see if that makes a difference (this will use mobile data of course)
