Removing Twitter and GitHub login on the IFC

We are beginning to streamline our login and sign up options on the Infinite Flight Community. Starting on August 21st, 2020, we will be removing the option to login or sign up with Twitter and GitHub.

This change will likely not effect you. However, if you use either of these to login to the IFC, we recommend your email is up-to-date and your account has a password set so you can still log in. You can do this by going to “Preferences” under your profile page.

Let us know if you have any questions about this change.

I know twitter is quite restrictive with their APIs, but just out of curiosity - why is GitHub removed?

Sounds great 👍🏼

It’s a case of streamlining to offer consistent authentication options across the app and community :)

Will you guys be adding Sign In With Apple by any chance?

I do not believe that is a possible method.

Correct me if I’m wrong, I’m just quoting something from a year ago 😅

We’re looking into it for the community, we’re prioritising the app for that currently since it’s an App Store requirement

Yeah, figured you would be prioritizing the app mainly to keep your App Store spot. Can’t wait to use it! :)

Makes sense. But will it mean that we will, someday, will be able to connect our Infinite flight account to the IFC automatically (if the accounts in IF and on IFC)? I might be wrong in suggesting it because of the possibility that IFC and IF user database integrations being incompatible, but if it’s possible I would love to see that, because, if I’m not mistaken, google’s profile id are the same everywhere.
