Removed the training wheels from my Nikon and tried full Manual Mode!

Another Golden Sunrise awaited me at Sky Harbor. Patiently anticipated a Phoenix light runway, as I for the first time carefully adjusted the settings in manual mode. Let’s have a look and see what the out come gave me!

This first shot arguably is the worst, but i love the look of this livery so i thought it needed to be represented. I couldn’t edit it any better to get it more sharp. Don’t zoom in unless you want to vomit.

Next up is a decent Frontier departure just before the lighting was starting to get good. This was taken in Auto setting as i was switching back and forth with experimental photos.

A few respectable pictures of Alaska’s nice looking Boeing with the back drop of South Mountain showcasing the radio and television antennas.

Followed by a color contrasting beautiful United blasting off into the sunrise. Captured on Manual with a blurred background and a fairly sharp shot for the equipment. Winner winner chicken dinner!

Here we have a Southwest pulling into the gate with First Class Officer Doo-little asking Captain Underpants if he can buy his mate a micro-brew after letting him have credit for a buttery of a landing.

Another Frontier shot in Auto because I’m still learning…

Gotta appreciate the colors on this one. Displayed with Honoring the 25th Anniversary of adopting a pilot program.

Now this next one is not often photographed… a Swallow departing 7L. It’s blurry but can be seen better zoomed in. Destination unknown but was last reported seen near the East Cell Parking Area and is currently being investigated by the FAA for taking off without clearance nor having a proper flight plan.

Finally a repositioned location for a practical shot in manual and it paid off.

Congrats. Manual is not easy, and these are really good!

Always remember: You are smarter than the camera, which is why manual is the way to go ;)

Thanks, now that i can see the difference between auto and manual from my own doing i can fully appreciate manual. No to mention it strengthens the will to unleash the potential within to produce some spectacular images. With the near perfect lighting and practice it’s only a matter of time before they get more improved.

I didn’t see that swallow on FlightRadar24, so I’m surprised to see it show up!

I think it didn’t have it’s transponder on. Kinda like a military operation but it uses big talons instead of a missile.

Ahh, that makes sense.

Some things in life are better appreciated from a distance.

This is because government drones (birds) don’t have transponders available for the public to see.

Gorgeous shots!!
