Rejected Takeoffs & Engine Failures

I don’t think there is a setting to create a possibility for engine failures so I am wondering how y’all simulate these failures. ex Do you guys turn off the engine to simulate a fire?

that’s the only option if you wanted to simulate an engine fire, or you can do the mission with the engine failure. As for the title, make sure when you start a flight your auto brakes are temporarily armed at your desired settings. Then simply reverse thrust on the runway and use your brakes to slow down, as you would on a landing.

gotcha thanks

There’s this app called “Infinite Passengers” to simulate engine failures along with other emergency’s. You can control when it happens or have it go off at a random time. You do have to pay for it though.

I tried that one time, cutting an engine while departing TNCM…it was during one of the Caribbean events, and I rejected the takoff and Instantly ATC was told to follow instruction or I’ll be reported

I immediately apologized and left that event I was too scared to take any violation reports 🫣😬😂

Please, don’t turn off your engine during an event 😭

And make sure the controller understands your rejecting takeoff, that’s probably why you got that message.

I wish there was an emergency atc thing that players could use to tell controllers because we dont have alot of options of communication

If you’ve been flying for over an hour and you run out of fuel an option to declare an emergency will show up, but it’s not implemented otherwise most likely bc it will be overused and abused. Also the only actual emergency we have is running out of fuel, everything else is faked by the pilot

Half of every pilot deciding to declare an emergency for fun? No thanks

No it can be done like the fuel emergency. You only get the option when you actually have an emergency

Ok but then people will all of a sudden turn off their engines and then have an “emergency”

“Turning off the engine” is not an emergency… the game’s artificial intelligence would be able to recognize whether you switched off your engine manually or there is an actual emergency which is simulated by the game itself. And that can be done by putting the percentage of something going wrong which is maximum 0.01% (typically 0.001 to 0.007 percent)

I know that now…and they need to make a way to say that your rejecting takoff or somthing

There are multiple ways to communicate to air traffic control your rejecting takeoff. This only really applies to expert server, the majority of training server atc is highly unprofessional.

  1. As a controller, there are telltale signs we are taught to spot the right moment to tell an aircraft to exit the runway on landing, to ensure they aren’t going around. These same rules apply to rejected takeoff. When we notice planes slowing down significantly, we will issue an exit runway.

  2. If they don’t notice you, you can put the misc message “I’m sorry” to grab their attention.

  3. if this doesn’t work, or you need to get off the runway quickly, exit the runway, contact ground and request taxi back to the runway.

There is a mission in the sim where it simulates an engine failure on take off from Newark I believe. It’s in the Missions tab.

(Mode | Infinite Flight)

I’ve seen one guy use the MA callout (or something similar, I don’t remember) to announce RTO, kind of weird but grabbed my attention immediately😂

In a busy airport an I’m sorry or a Stand by has no flashing light on the ATC display, so they usually go unnoticed. We’d need something with an amber yellow light, and I honestly think the MA announce is the best one even though it’s not realistic.

whats the MA callout?

It’s the “announce missed approach” button.

Or, exiting the runway and requesting taxi. As a controller that’s most convenient
