Hello everyone,
Recently, I’ve been seeing many non-contributors to IF post in the #developer category, which is against the rules. So, in order to have less moderator messages to try to prevent these sorts of things from happening, I’m proposing to give all IF contributors a badge that gives them exclusive access to the Developer category. (i.e. Airport Editor, or 3rd party app developer) Any other user who tries to comment on any #developer thread will get a message similar to the one you get when you try to reply to a closed topic. This system would really help the issue with non-contributors commenting in #developer threads.
Not a terrible idea
Yes please! :)
Oh yes! This would be nice!
Yes, the show us your airports topic has people asking and requesting for airports, this would surely help that topic.
This would create more labels, which not a lot of people don’t like. I honestly don’t care.
I agree with this. It should be a read only to people who don’t develop or help with IF. But it would be hard to find every airport editor on the forum & give them access.
I’m developing an app along with 10 other people and not gonna lie until this post I had no idea there was a developer section
It used to be private a while ago. I’m not sure if you can make a category read only for specific users.
You can - you need to create a group (for the people that get write access) to do so.
Yea but we wouldn’t be able to manage it so it would be a pain.
We can if we get owner access to the group. ;)
It should be similar to the #announcements category. No one else can make a topic but mods and staff, I think. If an airport editor or some other contributor wants to post in #developer, they should contact a mod or staff to give them temporary permission to access it.
That would be cool, is it worth it though?
While it would probably be good, it’s most likely not worth the effort. Mods can just close improper posts.
Yes I agree!
sure! thats great idea
Don’t think it would be too difficult. All we need to do is enter usernames into a field and then press enter. The only problem I foresee is getting all the usernames and stuff.
Couldn’t you get the Airport Editors from the slack data?
We need the forum usernames; the Slack doesn’t have the usernames.
