Recreating my first ever flight | Malaysia Airlines 777-200ER

Hello IFCers! Today I’m flying the 777-200ER from Kuala Lumpur to Mumbai, for a change from the usual A319, 737 and butter machine 330. I decided to fly on this route since I haven’t done so for many years. In fact, this aircraft type and route is special to me as it is technically the first ever flight I took after I was born. I can say without a doubt that my first ever flight was on a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER between Mumbai and Kuala Lumpur. Lets enjoy this medium haul Asian flight!

Flight details

Server: Expert
Airline: Malaysia Airlines
Aircraft: Boeing 777-2H6ER
Origin: Kuala Lumpur Int’l Airport (KUL/WMKK)
Destination: Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Int’l Airport (BOM/VABB)
Flight Number: MH194
Registration: 9M-MRL
Air time: 4 hours 25 minutes

Parked at the satellite terminal at KUL. Honestly, it still amazes me how KUL doesn’t have 3D buildings yet on IF but some rural airports in Borneo do. Funny stuff

Pushback from the gate, will taxi to runway 32R today for takeoff

Takeoff from runway 32R, essentially heading straight out over northern Malaysia and entering Thailand

Climbing to the assigned cruising altitude of 41000ft

Overflying Thailand before entering Yangon FIR as we leave land

Overflying Nagpur at FL410, Maharashtra is a big state so it takes some time even for a Boeing 777 to cross

Descending into Mumbai, will use the ILS on runway 27 as most BOM arrivals do at this hour of the night

Firm landing on runway 27

Medium autobrake and idle reverse thrust. At 29% of MTOW, the aircraft is very light and can slow down easily. View of the iconic Air India and general aviation hangars at the back. Everytime I would land here, I instantly knew I was in Mumbai by the sight of old scrapped AI A310s or 747-300 at the hangar

Parked at BOM’s famous Terminal 2, which has essentially become synonymous with the city. Back when I flew on this route, the aircraft would either be parked on a remote stand or at the infamous semicircular terminal 2A which was undesirable and made me feel like I had arrived in the underworld. A huge contrast from flying out of KUL’s modern airport.

That’s all for today, I hope you enjoyed reading this trip report and please like and comment!
