In light of the brief but disruptive incident swirling around the iOS text to speech alterations, am I the only one who thinks IF would benefit from having sampled recordings available to use instead? To my mind it would be rather more reliable and far less prone to external changes

However, this might be a bit impractical. The good thing about a computer generated voice is that it can read literally anything. With real-world voice samples, it’s not that easy. You’d probably need to record thousands of words from the aviation vocabulary, not to mention all airport names, callsigns, … The amount of storage that would require is extremely large.
