We’ve been quietly adding features that go beyond “phone-as-a-yoke” and start acting like a real cockpit. Here are two of our favorites.
Reactive Windshear Warning
If you’ve ever flown a real Airbus, you know the sound. Now SkyYoke gives you the same aural on short final or right after rotation:
▎ “Windshear, windshear, windshear.”
This isn’t a gimmick — it’s modeled on the A320’s FAC Reactive Windshear System (RWS). SkyYoke watches your live wind telemetry and fires the warning when it detects a rapid loss of headwind — the performance-decreasing shear that actually gets airplanes in trouble.
The details we got right:
- Real envelope: only armed between 50 ft and 1300 ft AGL, and only a few seconds after lift-off — exactly the height window the real RWS covers.
- Real trigger: a headwind drop of ~15 kt over 5 seconds, or a violent gust spike, sets it off.
- Anti-chatter latching so it warns once per encounter and stays quiet for 15 s, just like the real PFD display.
- You get the spoken callout, a red WINDSHEAR banner across the top of the cockpit, and a warning haptic buzz.
Turn it on under Settings → Safety & feedback → Windshear warning. Currently an Infinite Flight feature (it needs live wind data the sim exposes).
A simulator aid only — not a real windshear-detection system, and never a substitute for real-world RWS/PWS training.

TO/GA Button — takeoff & go-around thrust in one gesture
See that round TO/GA button next to the yoke? It does what the real thrust levers do when you firewall them.
- Double-tap and your engines smoothly spool up to takeoff thrust over 3 seconds — a proper ease-in ramp, not an instant snap. Watch the throttle slider follow the spool-up in real time.
- Defaults to 95%, or set your own custom takeoff thrust in the info sheet.
- Smart lifecycle: a custom takeoff setting auto-clears after you lift off, so a later go-around still gives you the standard 95% when you need it most.
- Single-tap opens an info card with your live V1 / VR / V2 and approach speeds, computed from your aircraft type and current weight.
It pauses cleanly if you disconnect or hand control back to the yoke.
V-speeds are estimated for the simulator from aircraft type and live weight — not for real-world flight.
Both features are about the same thing: making SkyYoke feel less like a controller and more like the flight deck. Give them a try and let us know what you’d like modeled next. ![]()
