They don’t have to. They can use blender which works perfectly and as I said, they might be 3D designers doing it in their free time. So they might already have the software needed. I tried out blender myself. You can choose multiple file types if that was an issue. The only reason i didn’t continue with blender is that my PC is an absolute potato. They can set specific quality requirements for the airports, and they shall be reviewed before launched.
Do remember that the devs stated that they worked a lot on performance, and that will barely be any bad performance on weaker devices. Also I want to note that every phone from now onwards is stronger, and stronger by year, so no talking about performance in here :)
Yes, I am fully aware that the developers talked about performance. But if we continue to increase the complexity of aircraft and buildings, some devices are going to struggle to keep up.
Performance is always an important aspect, and it’s certainly something that should be discussed for this kind of feature request.
if anyone has a performance issue they can decrease quality or just disable 3d buildings in a radius/totally.
Rendering real shaped airports is definitely not something for the average user. I mean look at MFS, there real airports need to get build by professional companies which specialize on building realistic airports. Now imagine a SINGLE person building one… It’s just too unrealistic
there shouldnt be set time, they can take months if they want. im just saying that anyone with a RTX 1650 or above will be able to render it, it might take a few hours but its not that bad. if you have a bad graphics card u can take small ones, if you have an RTX 3090 tho, you can take a big one. See what i mean? I don’t think it’ll hurt if someone makes an extra GA airport. Why not
No one said that there will be only one person per airports. A modelling team can be established, like someone stated earlier, and a bunch of people can work on an airport, and regarding the time, just think of the final product, even if an airport is going to be worked on for some months, think that you’ll have real world terminals, how about that?🙂
plus the main team would be working on another one, its just something extra.
It looks shaped to me. If you look closely you can see the curve. But I may be wrong
A real airport has way more polygons though. That’s the main problem. Aircraft can’t have many polygons because otherwise many devices couldn’t handle it. That’s why many aircraft don’t have a cabin. Now imagine a realistically built airport…
Seeing LHR unique Terminal 5, or DXB terminal 1 as a normal polygon terminal, doesn’t warm me up that much. I do appreciate the huge work that has been putted by the devs, but we surely can make one step further🙂
yeah but think of this, people can disable it, they can make it so that only 3D buildings in a small range load, there are many solutions. People can also hand the design to IF and all they have to do is optimize it
Maybe the devs could find a way
There is definitely a way! :D
I think you are getting too excited. not even a top game like flight simulator (with many more people in its development) has all the custom airports. Do not forget that infinite flight is for mobile devices (without high performance graphics cards or 32gb of ram).
The team has to consider not forcing too many people on the low resolution setting. Low resolution takes out the live cockpit.
Keep in mind this will be just the first release, things will get updated as time goes on.
A flight simulator like for eg. P3D does have real world shaped terminals, it doesn’t have every airport from the world because there isn’t any established team or something, developers are free to develop whatever they want, what’s your point? Infinite Flight is a mobile flight simulator, yeah, however I don’t think real world shaped terminals can impact performance because as the devs stated a lot, the performance was a key thing that has been worked a lot on and a lot of factors have been taken Into consideration.
First off, I’m going to say that I’m quite happy with how buildings and 3D objects are progressing. These are certainly just the first iteration and I’m sure there will be more developments in the coming months/years.
I will say I think this is an important aspect for the realism side if things. I completely understand the performance limitations as well, so hopefully the developers can continue working on options that will allow for some of the more complex terminal designs to be rendered.
It does kind of take the fun out of some buildings if they don’t mimic their real-life counterparts. That being said, 3D terminals will be a huge leap forward regardless, so we’ll see what it looks like in the 21.1 release. I’m sure it won’t be disappointing :)
With the recently announced changes to the feature request category, this feature no longer meets the following criteria:
- 3D airport/object requests are currently not allowed (including airports, ATC facilities, buildings and objects etc.)
Due to this, this feature request has been closed and all votes returned to their users so that they can be used to vote on other features they would like to see in-app. For more information on what is permitted, please visit the About the Features Category.
