RAM Air Turbine (RAT) on the reworked 777?

Is this a RAM on the new 777 or what else could it be?
And what feature(s) could be coming with it?

I think it is. The IF Dev Team are really going into detail!

At Cosford I spoke to Laura and she said, that they are now working on more of the aircarft systems, as all if the data goes to a central point and is therefore easier to manage.

So I could only think, that is it the Ram turbine.

I would think that this is a RAT on the 777. I have seen in multiple pics and vids and here is one

No doubt that this thing here is the RAT of the 777

Well, that RAT is missing the blades, it won’t work so much without them haha.

But at least it is there…thats the main thing

Its the same like making the landing gear with no wheels, the RAT works because of its blades.

They are most likely not being rendered or haven’t been made yet…

It’s still a WIP 😉

I guess, anyway, i don understand the function of it on IF. Maybe it comes out when you run out of fuel. Without it in real life you wouldn’t be able to fly the aircraft in this situation.

A ram air turbine ( RAT ) is a small wind turbine that is connected to a hydraulic pump, or electrical generator, installed in an aircraft and used as a power source. The RAT generates power from the airstream by ram pressure due to the speed of the aircraft. - wikipedia

As you can see if you run out of fuel, you run out of power. If there is no power you have no hydraulic pressure and therefore you can’t controll the aircraft. The Ram turbine pressures the hydraulics and gives some power to the aircraft.

Thats what I said.

Nice catch. I totally missed that. I wonder how it will work in infinite flight though.

It could be as simple as aircraft in air and both engines shutdown. Thats more or less the logic on the real aircraft.
