Hello IFC! After a couple weeks of some challenging training sessions and a practical, I became an IFATC mountain crasher (Officer) yesterday.
To show some of what goes on behind the scenes, I thought I’d show the result of each of my training sessions. As you’ll see, some airports were much more challenging than others (KPVU = ☹️). I’d also be remiss to not thank the wonderful @Will_A for bring a great trainer and all the pilots who attended each session.
Congratulations, Robert! That’s a huge accomplishment and hopefully I’ll spot you controlling radar! Maybe I’ll even be controlling local as you’re controlling radar. 🙃
And how did you pass the practical without knowing of such a majestic thing us Officers use to reduce traffic on our frequency? Immediate demotion to Observer.
Someone has clearly forgot how radar tests are done. If all the participants are not vectored towards the nearest mountain goat within 5 minutes then its an instant fail.
KPVU is great fun in a great place, you literally get a VOR marking the top of a hill. It’s good fun.
I don’t have a specific quote, but this is my pro mountain crasher lol 😂. Jk, tbh, toaster is probably one of the best controllers out there. Anyway, congratulations!
