Hello IFC! After a couple weeks of some challenging training sessions and a practical, I became an IFATC mountain crasher (Officer) yesterday.
To show some of what goes on behind the scenes, I thought I’d show the result of each of my training sessions. As you’ll see, some airports were much more challenging than others (KPVU = ☹️). I’d also be remiss to not thank the wonderful
@Will_A for bring a great trainer and all the pilots who attended each session.
The pictures below are chronological. Away we go!

Tyler immediately demotes you back to Specialist
Congratulations, Robert! That’s a huge accomplishment and hopefully I’ll spot you controlling radar! Maybe I’ll even be controlling local as you’re controlling radar. 🙃
A big big congratulations to you! It’s an awesome feeling when you get the message that you passed. A big congrats once again!
Congratulations on this huge achievement! 🥳🎉🍾
@Will_A I heard was the worst! ;)
all jokes aside, Will is great and I congratulate you on officer. Great work!
I. Uh. What’s a mountain?
You didn’t tell me you were new
@Rob_M :) Nice radar at MPTO yesterday ;)
And how did you pass the practical without knowing of such a majestic thing us Officers use to reduce traffic on our frequency? Immediate demotion to Observer.
Noob, everyone knows the
real best way is to randomly violate people for no reason. Immediate demotion to ban.
Let’s not get too out of hand here (even though it’s obviously a joke). But thank you all for the kind words!
Don’t make me tag all my trainees 😳
Amazing work, Robert. You’ve put so much effort into this. Crazy enough, Robert had a total of one terrain bust during his entire training career!
Someone has clearly forgot how radar tests are done. If all the participants are not vectored towards the nearest mountain goat within 5 minutes then its an instant fail.
KPVU = ☹️
KPVU is great fun in a great place, you literally get a VOR marking the top of a hill. It’s good fun.
Looks like you’ve come a long way, good work.
No need to tag, Will. We’re already here. Well, at least I am
Ahh, I see. My mistake. I will definitely get it together
when if my time for radar training comes.
I don’t have a specific quote, but this is my pro mountain crasher lol 😂. Jk, tbh, toaster is probably one of the best controllers out there. Anyway, congratulations!

how do I communicate with the right atc, because I keep getting reports, if there’s a tutorial, please share :)
