RAAF Super Hornet Demo Team Performance at Melbourne

The following Screenshots were taken at YMML during a flyover and performance by the RAAF Super Hornet Demo, the aerobatic performance portion was required to be canceled due to heavy winds. This is to honor the Perth to Melbourne flight

Where are the photos? :joy: Also don’t use “was” since the group flight hasn’t started.

Oh. Oh my god #holyairball

My inner realism police is firing up…

I knew something was up despite me having not much knowledge of RAAF operations :joy:

Ok lol. I know they operate mostly Legacy Hornets and the issue is that there is no Royal Australian Air Force livery on the hornet. So I found the closest thing to it. @Cwaker calm down buddy, don’t want to Lock the AMRAAMs.

Specifically the Raytheon (Former Hughes) Aim 120 AMRAAM ER, Hughes was the first manufacturer and starting in 1997 Raytheon manufactured them. They are used on numerous famous and iconic aircraft like the F22 and F35C. They a have a High Explosive Blast Fragmentation Warhead using the FZU-49 Proxi Fuze. It is powered by a Solid Fuel Rocket Motor. The Missile has a maximum speed of Mach 4.0 and Max range differs from 40NM-86NM. It uses Intertial Guidance. Active Radar Homing, and a midcourse data link which is optional. It costs about 1.09M USD, Has a mass of 356 Pounds, Length of 12 feet, Diameter of 7in, wingspan of 1 ft 7in, it has a 40G Max Overload and is controlled by Canards. @Cwaker there, real enough for ya

I just said that it wasn’t very realistic because of a hornet at YMML. They are not permitted over or near YMML due to the heavy traffic and possibility of midair collisions, just like any other major airport out there.
