Hello everybady I have a question for you: when I’m in the holding short of a runwey where for take-off in this runway I need to enter in the runway and line app ( I meen that this think’s name is back taxi) I need to request take off at ATC only when I’m line app at the renway or at line of holding short? And at unicom which means do I say at atc?
Usually, you request departure (if there’s a tower frequency) when taxiing, and then they tell you what to do (hold short, line up, etc). If there’s unicom, hold short at the half checkered, half straight line that is perpendicular to the direction of your plane, then, I usually announce that I’m taking off, then line up and take-off. Do never enter the runway if you are not instructed to do so, if the ATC is open, he will give you the instructions to hold short (if needed) and then to take off. The take off clearance allow the pilot to directly take off, to line up and then take off, to back taxi (if there is a back taxi needed) and take off.
