I am just trying to figure out center stations are staffed in the middle of a session of a tower and ground controller? Because when I am controlling I am aware of those just outside my airspace and I never request ask to contact me if I see they are tuned to an approach, departure, or center frequency until they are literally inside the boundary. I technically may have been tuned to approach which is active now for only 7 hours, but I thought from my understanding the usual timeline of frequencies from origin to destination is ground, tower, departure, center (if staffed), approach, tower, ground. Contacted by controller at or around 1115 Z (sim) by āControllerā while tuned to (confident it was tower) but possibly approach on a 7 mile final. Continued to ask to request to contact center while on the ground. So, again, just want to make sure I am understanding correctly in order from origin to destination it is ground, tower, departure, center (if staffed), dest. approach, tower, and ground? Thank you for your time in advance!

Sounds like this was on Training Server.
Anyone can control on Training Server without necessarily any knowledge of how the ATC system works. Therefore itās common to receive incorrect/inaccurate messages.
This is correct, yes.
