I recently proposed a thread for Lufthansa’s A350-1000 (which was rejected for reasons such as it being a special livery or the airline not having received it yet). Unfortunately, for now, Lufthansa will only be receiving the D-AIFA, which features the 100 Years livery. I am fully aware of the rules regarding liveries. I also understand that as long as the aircraft hasn’t been delivered, it cannot be submitted to the community. I don’t want to criticize the system, but rather to understand it. Because many liveries are requested every day, and some are requested even though the airline hasn’t received the aircraft yet (I had a similar situation when I posted about Air Canada’s A350-1000). Can anyone clarify this for me and explain why special liveries are prohibited ?
As I said, this isn’t a criticism but a request for clarification.
Partly because some special liveries are extremely complicated (some arguably too complicated for the artists to replicate - e.g. Qantas Yan Dreaming/AeroMexico Quetzalcoatl) so it’s better just to let all special liveries be at the discretion of the staff.
I guess the perspective there is we have it on the -700 and the -900. So from various perspectives, there’s no restriction, therefore putting the KLM livery on the -800 as well probably isn’t a priority.
I’d rather see a livery/airline that we don’t have in the sim yet over a livery that’s on the other two variants of the aircraft.
Yes, I agree with you on those, but look they’ve brought out the Lufthansa 100 Years livery on the A380. Unfortunately, Lufthansa has decided to use the same livery for its first A350K. It doesn’t make sense. And, I’ve noticed that someone suggested the Air India livery for the A350K, even though they haven’t received it either. As I said, I’d suggested the Air Canada livery for the A350K and it was rejected because the airline hadn’t received it yet. Why is that one allowed and others aren’t?
What about the discover airlines a320-200 I like this livery very much but it isn’t in the game and we only get one discover livery. I heard a while ago that adding to much livery isn’t good for a storage thing is that still true?
You’re right about that. As you say, even though for the A350K (the orders will change over the next few years), it would be nice to have that same livery too. Even though some people might think there’s no point in having two similar liveries from the same airline for two different aircraft, I think it’s a shame
That’s a fair point. We actually have a similar situation with the Kuwait Airways A330-900neo. It’s been requested for around two years, yet we still haven’t seen it added. Interestingly, the A330-800neo was added first, even though the A330-900neo request has been around much longer. Sometimes it just comes down to the team’s priorities rather than how old a request is.
True, I understand your point. But at the same time, what’s the downside of adding it? It would give A339 pilots more variety and provide Kuwait Airways fans with a more complete fleet selection. It would also make the sim more realistic by offering more accurate livery choices for airlines that operate the aircraft. More liveries and options can only improve the experience for everyone.
True, I understand that. I agree that airlines which don’t have any livery in the sim should have more priority than ones we already have. However, I still think that adding more liveries would be a great addition in the future.
I completely understand why it’s no longer possible to request special liveries, and I agree with the current rule. However, I was wondering if the team would ever consider conducting an occasional poll of the community to choose a special livery. This wouldn’t be a permanent measure or a replacement for the current system, but perhaps a poll once a year or on the occasion of major events. That way, the community could vote from a small selection chosen by the developers, and the winning livery could be added if the team deemed it appropriate. For example, liveries like the A350-1000 “Lufthansa 100 Years” livery . I think this could be a fun way to involve the community while maintaining the current rules.
