When ATC issues a holding pattern, is there a way to follow it with autopilot on the map, hence the hold shows on the map? Or do you have to manually fly it with headings?
As far I am aware, you have to do it manually doing the turns.
You can do it manually or use AP. I use auto pilot for the turns and fly the aircraft straight.
I don’t mean like Physically taking all A/P off and flying it with out anything, I’m talking like have the A/P on and I adjust the headings of the turn, but the A/P does not completely flying around in circles all by its self. Is that what you mean?
Yes that is correct @Vinnieg25
A/P can be set, you just have to manually adjust the turns when you get to the point needing to turn every few mins. It would be nice to think A/P will take care of itself following the holding pattern but that’s not the case.
The holding pattern is given by ATC so that you go to the holding area and you will be circling until further instructions.
I’ve found myself going in circles for a good 15 mins or more depending how busy the airspace is.
Thank you, appreciate it!
