Decided to fly the Holy Grail of Long-Hauls, the Kangaroo Route, in my last few days before starting my internship. Here’s the first leg:
Server: Solo
Airline: Qantas
Aircraft: Airbus A380-800
Origin: Sydney Kingsford-Smith Airport, Mascot, Australia (SSY)
Stopover: Singapore Changi Airport, Singapore (SIN)
Destination: Heathrow Airport, London, United Kingdom (LHR)
Flight Number: QF1
Route: YSSY-WSSS
Seat: 32K (Premium Economy)
Time En Route: 7 Hours 23 Minutes
Boarding in the early afternoon
Taxiing out for departure
Climbing out of SSY and past Sydney Harbor
Turbulence over the Outback means we’re bouncing like a very large, aluminum Red Kangaroo. With 4x Rolls-Royce Trent 900 turbofans.
Making the turn onto final for Changi
Landing in Singapore
Parked at Gate D46. Some passengers get off, as the SSY-SIN leg is a 5th Freedom route, and some get on. We’re also gonna take on some more fuel for the long part of the trip, which will begin in a couple hours. Right now, everyone from passengers, to cabin crew, to the folks up front get to stretch their legs.
