Qantas is running a competition to name their 8 787-9 Dreamliners. By going to the link above you can suggest names for the Aircraft (although they prefer things related to Australia or Qantas’ history. Like longreach)
What if they were named after the Catalina period? There could be a total of 8, with the Captain Russell Tapp, Double Sunrise, Rose Bay, and then one name for every star used in navigation with the Rigel Star, Spica Star, Altair Star, Vega Star, and Antares Star. Considering I’m not much of a Qantas expert I’m not entirely sure if any of these names have already been used, but based on what I’ve seen I haven’t found any current aircraft with these names. And considering I won’t be disclosing any of my personal details to Qantas soon, I’ll leave these names open for anyone on the community to take.
Great idea. I put down Great Barrier Reef. It’s pretty bad they haven’t used the name on any of their aircraft yet. And I wonder if they’d use a name twice, like Kakadu (which is already on a 737)?
I did names that haven’t been used since the 1950’s like “City Of Longreach” and names used on the Lockheed constellations such as Southern Aurora & Southern Cross
