Purpose of Emails in VA application forms

Hi!

So first of all, I have no idea where this is supposed to go.

Anyways, so I am a very strict person when it comes to personal details like emails, etc. So I’m wondering what is the point of giving your email in a VA application form? What is it used for?

This is the only thing stopping me from joining VA’s. The internet can be dangerous when it comes to these things, so I am curious what is the actual purpose of giving it.

If it’s for communication, why? When you can PM the person on the IFC.

Thanks!

Hey there!

A lot of VAs use Slack for communication. They need an e-mail address to add you to their channel. A lot of times, this is the main reason why they’re asking for it :)

Well, I think it it mostly for communication. I have signed up for VA’s and have given my email, and they email me for events and stuff for that. Honestly, throughout all the VA’s that I have joined, I have only used my email for Slack, or Discord.

Ah, I see. Personally never used Slack so I didn’t know this!

Thanks Marc! 😉

You need an email address to have an account at Discord, Slack, etc.

I think it is very good, that you understand that the internet is a dangerous place, where sensitive info like that can easily be found out. Very good skill to have!

Yep, unfortunately these days there are people that remove the fun from the internet. Thats why we have to be careful with things like this!

Anyways, my question has been answered. Mods can close ;)
