Hey guys I’m planning to do a project Sunrise flight starting tonight from London to Sydney. I can’t decide between an a 350 or a 787 - 9. I would like your advice. Also if anyone has the flight route that Qantas actually used back in November that would be awesome. I can’t find it
Use the 789 for a more realistic option
Hey Tyler!
I would definitely recommend the A350. I’m pretty sure it has a higher range and with the live cockpit it is one of my favourite aircraft! But the 787 will be a good option if you want to copy what Qantas did, but it will mean you probably have to only have fuel onboard.
Happy flying and good luck!
G’day Tyler,
Would recommend the Boeing 787-9 for the route if you’re doing it for “Project Sunrise” as this is what Qantas used for both New York to Sydney, and London to Sydney.
You can find the flight pan on Simbrief and the one that’s n there is pretty similar for the route.
Regards,
-Adam
Seeing as Qantas is picking the a350 I would use that, however flying for 20 hours nonstop across the globe requires not only a good device, but careful planning.
Yes I agree with @max7777
I recommend maybe using low graphics and turning brightness and sound all the way down so there isn’t lag or a high chance of the device crashing. Also clear the RAM and restart your device before your flight!
I have a Galaxy S10 so I’ve never had problems with it crashing only with the live server going out but I think that has to do with my internet connection
still due to your device using OLED technology you run the risk of having permanent screen burn where the same image is stuck on screen for ever. If you go ahead make sure to keep the cam facing ground or smt that is constantly moving and changing, such as wing view zoomed in
If I read correctly I think they had 50 passengers on board so I’m going to try to keep it as realistic as possible. Also I’m just assuming but I’m guessing from New York to Sydney they flew across the United States and over the Pacific and from London to Sydney they flew down over India?
Lond to sydney they flew over the Pacific i believe.
Flight path LHR-SYD
Really? I didn’t even know that was a thing to worry about. I’ve done a lot of long-haul flights and I just turn my brightness to whole way down but wow
Hope I’m not annoying you but do you have the way points by chance?
as long as you face the ground where scenery and pixels are constantly updating you will be fine. Otherwise apart from that your phone will definately overheat no matter what brand so keep it out of blankets etc
you can go to simbrief and type it in
This does not necessarily give the exact route the flight took.
Yeah I’ll be honest I’m not finding it. I don’t want to be generic and just make a straight line there but I don’t want to make a whole account just to get the waypoints
I’m going to fly the a350 - 1000 that’s what they’re going to be flying starting 2023 and I will fly full fuel and 50 passengers
I have tried to find the waypoints online but no luck.
I’m going to be starting here any minute wish me luck
