fyi, for metal, there is this topic, as follows, and the two additional topics below (there was an overlapping question or two, seemed to be asked in one, but perhaps answered in another):
So infinite flight announce project metal 4 years ago. A lot has changed since then now having 3D buildings, cirrus cloud layers and a lot (I can’t stress this enough) a lot of performance improvements making the game even more stable and better across multiplayer.
However, how is stuff like 3D clouds, airport/aircraft dynamic lighting, Tire smoke on touchdown etc coming along? Sorry if I come off a bit impatient, just curious how development is coming along lol.
All we know of metal is graphics improvement. I don’t expect something like MSFS or X Plane Quality (well maybe, who knows?)
Hi IFC. I have a question.
So I’ve been reading Project Metal and I don’t really understand this paragraph.
"Some features we’d like to implement but have been either impossible or too performance-inhibitive are things like:
Dynamic lighting: the ability to have aircraft lights (airport lights, and more) illuminate the environment dynamically
Improved aircraft shading that takes into account light coming from the environment around it
Realtime shadows
Volumetric effects like dense 3d clouds …
