Project Metal updates please

Hey guys,

I wondered when the big promised graphic update will finally come?

I know, it’s a big piece of work and not just like a weekend of coding and of course I want it to be good and not just thrown in and kinda ruin the game experience. I really understand if the team of Infinite Flight want it to be absolut perfect so please take your time. :slightly_smiling_face:

Never the less it was announced for 2024. Until now it’s almost March 2025 and the lack of updates about this specific progress makes me kinda sad. :disappointed:

I don’t understand, why we only get WIPs of new planes but not one tiny sneak peek of the amazing and stunning new graphics. What’s the idea behind this big secret? I would go crazy if we get some official screenshots with real new graphics, where we maybe can see new clouds, or some new lighting fx or what ever. And maybe a statement like “guys, we know we announced it for 2024, but because of … we had to reschedule it and now aiming for … 2025/6”

Is there any knowledge of the device support? Eg will an iPad Air from 2020 be able to handle the new engine or do we need like a more recent device like with a M-Chip? (Sorry, I’m Apple user, don’t know equal chips or models from other manufacturers).

I really will be patient but getting absolutely no informations about a project that has been announced like 4-5 years ago is kinda frustrating. And yes, I know project metal sneaks into IF in small steps and not like BOOM - here I am.

Greetings from Germany

Hey! We understand it might be a little frustrating, but rest assured things are progressing nicely and we’ll share something as soon as we feel the time is right.

Project metal isn’t all about visual improvements either… A lot of it is totally invisible, and some of the project metal work is already in the sim.

Patience will be your best friend with these improvements. All I can say (from what us staff have seen internally) is that the wait is going to be very worth it. Stay tuned for updates on our social media pages!

Thanks Dan for the answer! :star_struck:

I’ll try my best to be patient. I really put a lot in it. In my imagination, the graphic update will make IF kinda the MSFS on mobile devices
Hope I don’t expect too much, but believe me, I love this sim and can’t wait for the new graphics!:pray::pray:

Thanks again for your answer!

New graphics mean that our device specifications as Infinite Flight players must be better than the previous graphics. This may sound pushy, but it is a consequence. Bear in mind that if the graphics are getting better closer to MSFS (where I am currently still playing MSFS2020 with VATSIM), then for the mobile flight simulator class like infinite flight in Project Metal it is necessary to consider the performance of the device used. In relation to Project Metal, I am sure the developer is aware of this.

MSFS is a desktop flight simulator; of course, from the minimum specifications, it already forces users to have a minimum hardware that has a certain processing speed in order to run smoothly. And yes, I also like the new graphics, btw.

With “MSFS” I only wanted to say that IF becomes the “MSFS” like gold standard as mobile flight sim. I’m pretty sure it can’t be THIS detailed like a desktop flight sim, but I truly believe that actual mobile devices can run 3d cities and weather fx more than today. Just think back. I played MSFS like 15+ years ago and smartphones and tablets today have way more cpu power cause their working quite more efficiently. And MSFS at this time already had better clouds and weather FX as well as cities and night lights.

I really know that doin such a big step forward might affect especially older devices, maybe even my own. But the lack of such fundamental things in a flight sim really lowers the quality of IF in terms of graphic.

Enough. We will be patiently waiting for project metal to come (I mean the big graphic part ). We will all be blown away, I can feel it. I hope it will come sooner than later but only if developers are okay with it. But some liiiittle teasing screenshots would be great. Like little details in upcoming screenshots, you only see if you look closely. Like a cumulus cloud in a reflection of a plane’s fuselage, or a reflecting sun on a lake in the background, or some landing lights really shining on the runway on landing from a plane on the background. Or seeing a skyline of a city in the background with lights in the night. That will totally do it for me to be satisfied.

I admit, I’m also eagerly waiting for some concrete news. But IF is working hard for it and I have a complete trust in what they do. The end results will be amazing.
The reason it takes a long time is because IF cares about quality and not some fast made product. Something we don’t see alot lately with badly designed games/sims etc. We have to call ourselves lucky with such an amazing company. That alone is worth the wait for all the exciting stuff to come, at least in my opinion.

I’m absolutely with you! :handshake:

I mean just imagine, some cityscapes, terrain, 3d clouds, nightlights… ohhh that would be nice, can’t wait :slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face:

what I like about this game is the insane detail they put into every aircraft. The fact that it’s a mobile game makes it even more impressive and can’t wait for the new stuff coming with the Metal project.

The aircraft details and amazing physics are the reasons, why I’ve chosen IF :relieved:
