This thread is dedicated to airports in Italy that are currently being worked on, in order to be added to the game.
Objective:
The main objective of this project is to have all (major) airports in Italy, with 2D and 3D models, for IF users to experience when flying in and out of Italy
Once there is substantial progress on an Airport, a WIP screenshot will be posted on this thread.
I would also invite those who worked/ are working in editing airports to hit me up with the airport and its current status, so that I can update the list.
I would really like to see Linate and Malpensa airports ready for the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will take place in February and March.
Alright fineš, since Milan Malpensa (LIMC) status confirmed to be release on the next update, well I guess I donāt have to hide Milan Linate (LIML) status.
Just wanna emphasize how exciting this is for me because perhaps not many knows, that this region has two of the most challenging approaches that I know of: LIRA and LICR. LICR itself has been dubbed āThe Kai Tak of Europeā by many, while LIRA I think can almost be likened as āThe Paro of Italyā in my personal opinionā¦ because for the LIRA VOR-A RWY 33 Approach you have to perform an airport fly over, then circle back, before being faced with a last moment S-turn to avoid hill terrain.
Now, Iām not Italian (my home airport is actually WADD), but to land there in IF has always been a joy and now knowing that LIML, LIMC and LIRA will be released for the next update just made my dayā¦ because Iāve always wondered about it for a couple of years nowš
Furthermore Iād like to āpromoteā that I feel like airports starting with āLIā for their ICAO codes (i.e. LIME, LIRU, LIRA, LICR, LIRF, etc.) has amongst the IF-worldās most dang prettiest and exciting approaches Iāve ever seen out the cockpit windscreens.
