Problems with autopilot

(Expert server) (777-300ER) Hello. So i was about 50nm from EGLL when i deactivated the ap and all of the sudden the ariplane stalled. i calibrated and did everything correct as i always do. Does someone have a explenation for this? I can provide a video clip or pictures if needed. Thanks in advance.

I could maybe help. Video clips would be greatly appreciated though. Feel free to post here or via PM

A video would be highly appreciated, as quite a lot of things can cause this behaviour.

Just put it unlisted on YT and share the link here.

What do you mean?

Upload the clip to YT, select it to be unlisted, and share the link here. It won’t be public, so only us in the IFC will watch it.

I have never done that tho

Hello. What was your air speed at when you disengaged autopilot?

Go to YT, create an account, and click the “upload” button. While it loads, you can choose a title and a privacy setting. Pick “unlisted,” it won’t show on regular searches and will be viewable only to those who have the link.

Will try it, thanks.

Hello. It was 165

That is a very very slow speed, especially if your flaps weren’t down. Also I belive you said you were 50 miles away… usually I wouldn’t slow done this much until about 8 miles out. Hope this helped.

This is most probably why you stalled. At 50NM out, assuming you were above 10,000ft, you should be nowhere near that speed.
What might have happened is as you disconnected the AP (and autothrust), you might have pulled back ever so slightly on the yoke, causing your airspeed to decrease even further, which lead to the stall.

But of course if you still have doubts you can always post the video here as others in the thread stated :)

Hello so i checked the replay now and i was 175 at 15nm from runway 09l on EGLL

Flaps were at 25

Yeah it’s just slow, that’s the solution, just make sure your flaps are at full and to be extra careful at those low speeds.

You can also use hud move to view where your aircraft is going to avoid a stall.

Still weird because i was at a totat weight of 201,700kg. With 175kts and 25 on the flaps, It really shouldnt be a problem…

I might be wrong tho. But i know 200.000kg is Very light for the 777-300er

That’s not a speed issue, 175 @ 25 is plenty of extra margin to work with. More likely what happened is too fast of a movement on the stick leading to a sudden exceedance of the critical AoA. Honestly pretty rare to happen to the 777 because it flies with a lot of inertia but I suppose it’s doable.
