In the market, $ rules king. So yes
Then this should be controlled by the government. I say it’s a safety thing. ATC in my vote should not be private.
I actually only found out recently that Canadian ATC is privatized under Nav Canada.
“Not-for-profit” is an extremely important phrase there
Yeah, theres some stringent rules, which is why it works in Canada. The reason why Canada sold its ATC is because the government couldn’t pour the necessary money to upgrading their systems.
Quote from Mr Trump. I seriously don’t understand how privatising ATC will help this. It doesn’t mean more aircraft can magically land in the same space of time. IMHO it’s just empty hype
AOPA says that the top 2 delays causers are weather and airlines.
There’s a lot of things he does that makes no sense and this is one of them.
I voted against this.
NAV CANADA has some of the highest ATC fees in the world, that’s why we have cutting-edge technology in our ATC systems. It doesn’t come free, but it sure beats having the government pouring billions of dollars into upgrading the systems.
Hey guys, look! Trump is going to make the weather stop by privatising ATC! Genius
Well, no. But some privatized ATC systems have installed advanced systems enabling more expeditious re-routes and increasing overall system efficiency to enable flights to be moved around quickly and potentially reducing cancellation rates.
Is Trump repeating the word “privatize” going to fix anything? Absolutely not. It’s like Michael Scott going out and shouting “I DECLARE BANKRUPTCY!!” but not doing anything after that. ATC is not something to be farmed out to the lowest bidder, there needs to be intense study and development of extensive government policy governing the privatization process. Or else you will end up with a dangerous system.
Usually privatization drastically drops the amount of controllers employed too. Hopefully those thinking about a career in ATC get in soon
