Tracking Thread - SXM

Welcome to the Tracking Thread for St. Maarten and Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM/TNCM). Last September, Hurricane Irma devastated the Caribbean (Including SXM). Many airlines suspended service to SXM as they deemed that the island wasn’t fit for service.

Over the next couple of months into the coming years, SXM will be rebuilding and airlines will be reannoucing/announcing service to the island.

How is TNCM doing after the hurricane?, I’ve never heard more about it

Heres how it looks now.

They are running operations out of tents and busing the passengers to the planes

Dispite it being in tents it could pass as a normal airport if you did know about it

Let’s hope this airport makes a full recovery and St Maarten gets its full power again.

I’m glad the beach is starting to recover. Footage from right after the Hurricane showed the beach was no more.

Yeah the beach is coming back in nice! The airport is functional say the least and operations are running!

As you can see, full operations seem to begin in October-December

Wow! I didn’t know how vacant it was. Thanks for making this thread baboonboy

Pretty sure JetBlue has been running flights to the island out of JFK. It’s crazy how everything is done in tents. My grandparents were able to go for the first time post hurricane last month and were amazed by the customs system. Just done in tents with steel drums playing in the background. Glad the airport is starting to make a recovery.
