Practical test

Any tips for the practical test? I’m supposed to take it on Friday

just go with the flow! Think about it as just another training session and you will do great! I can’t wait to welcome you to IFATC!

Just keep your nerves in check. If you’re moving on to the practical that means you have the skills and knowledge to pass. You just need to not psych yourself out and panic.

I probably will get a bit nervous but I’ll just do what the first person told me to do. Go with the flow and think it’s just a normal training session. And thank you for the advice I’ll probably need it. I also never thought about it that way

I’d highly recommend taking a look at The Perfect ATC Test. It’s a video made by Tyler, the ATC manager. He explains what you’ll likely see on your practical test and how to do the test correctly so you can pass. It’s a really useful resource!

I assume you’re knowing everything you need to know in order to pass the test. The only hurdle remaining is: stress. Try to find a way how to handle it. For me a simple but effective way was: I want to have the people attending my test having a good time. That’s all, that was my goal. Nothing about I want to pass so badly. Just to have everyone a good time of flying and controlling.
This worked for me. Two times and I passed first time each test.
And don’t get stressed when you recognize a small mistake. Fix it, go on. See you on Friday on discord ;)

  • Eat well, drink well and sleep well 😂😂

No seriously take a deep breath and relax before. Don’t try to rush you decisions and commands.

  • It’s always time to sit back, take a deep breath and look at the things when you feel lost. Taking 5 seconds to look back at things can save you lots of troubles

  • Most important… have fun like in any other session. Don’t focus on the fact it’s a practical.

  • Let me know when it is so I can try to attend

If you make a mistake when issuing a command, dont panic, just correct it and move on. Absolutely no need to rush, also, trust the pilots to keep separation, dont over control (as long as youve sequenced of course!)

Enjoy and good luck.
