The reason why i do not care because i dont have time to do, i need to switch to the other page, turn them, and i tried to do that but i blocked the runway. IRL there is 2 pilots and it is availabe easier than in IF

It is true that it’s a pain to do if cleared for immediate takeoff as you approach the hold short line.

I like the first poll, but not the second. As ATC I do care and I wish people would use them correctly, but I do not wish I could ghost for that. I am not voting for the second poll because nothing matches what I agree with.

There is no “correct” way of using them, depends on aircraft class and company operating procedures.

I think the proper use of exterior lights is SUPER important. It makes the sim that much more realistic, not to mention that the continuous flashing of strobe lights on the taxiway is annoying, and completely unnecessary.

There are ground rules for basic light operation, such as strobes and landing lights on when you are cleared for departure, as well as having them on for landing until you clear the runway.

IRL. Seems to be upto airmanship in the day.

Not true. Landing lights and strobes are never on while taxiing, and beacon lights must be on with engines running.

If you had stobes on away from the runway at a commerical airfield you would soon be reminded to turn them off by the ground controller.

The guide as noted here is what is followed in the real world by pretty much every airline operating large jets

If the strobe lights are on when taking then you know they are a noob

They should have something that says to the aircraft that has its strobe lights on like please use your lights properly

Ain’t nobody got time for lights

On advanced server they should keep them off (unless they’re supposed to be on) to make the experience more realistic.

If lights become something we try to keep track of, it should NOT be a ghostable offense. I see planes all the time on the ramp with their landing lights or strobes on because they forgot to turn them off after rollout.

I think that was a given, the clue is kind of in the name lol. However, it is still true to say the use depends on SOP of airlines, in my little piper I turn them off when through 1500 maximum usually. Night they are always on near an airfield. Strobes on at all times at night.

I didn’t know about what the heck strobe lights did until someone asked what they were for. Before then I figured they were the same as taxi lights, and I still acts as they are. Landing lights I turn on mid-flight so I don’t forget. NAV are always on.
