Please taxi past the hold short line after landing immediately!

With this thread I’d like to point out a common mistake on the advanced server driving every ATC crazy. Even though @LSZH34 made a topic about it (which has been closed) a huge amount of pilots still doesn’t seem to know or to care.

Please pull past the Hold Short line after landing

To all of you who still didn’t get this:
Dont stop in front of the hold short line when exiting the runway!
Taxi beyond the hold short line and contact ground then (!) to request taxi to parking!
The exit command says “exit runway[…] contact ground on the taxiway”!
If you stop in front of the hold short line to request taxi there you are technically still on the runway, blocking it and preventing the aircraft already lined up from taking off, maybe forcing an aircraft on final to go around!

Those are just two examples. I see many more every day controlling expert server.

The screenshots are not shown to offend somebody, but to give an example of people doing it the wrong way. If you still recognize yourself and want the screenshot of you to be removed, please PM me.

Fly safe.

Thanks alot for this thread, I promise I wouldn’t do the same mistake again in the future (Usually, I stopped in front of the hold short line once leaving the runway)

People who do this drive me insane. Thank you for making this post. :)

I’ve had to go around multiple times for this reason! Hopefully everyone on TS1 sees this! Thank you for making this post! :)

It’s also a quite common thing on expert

Thank you!! lol FVA has an entrance exam and this is a huge part of it. If they don’t get it…they need to be schooled all over again on how to converse with IFATC.
So thank you for this!

The people shown in photos deserved to be called out.

No they don’t. Naming and shaming is for mumsnet and call of duty forums.let’s not sink that low.
They just need a heads up for the future.

I would agree with this while it does frustrate me and probably many more IFATC the goal is to learn and move on not public shame.

There’s a reason the hold short lines are dashed on the runway side and solid on the taxiway side (excluding CAT lines, which aren’t relevant for this discussion).

There’s a note in there that says, “Pilots entering the expert server are encouraged to have a basic understanding of each of the topics listed above before entry.” One of them deals with hold short lines.

I always have the urge to ghost them but if I do so, I will have to ghost 30% of people each session.

I’ve been saying this to other pilots… they swear you gotta stop before the hold short line then contact ground, NO! Thanks for this post cause even as a pilot this drives me nuts! Get it together pilots! I say if they continue to do this, ghost them!

if someone did this on ts1 i would give them a medal for effort.

has flashbacks of ts1 “shivers”

Thanks for this. Much needed reminder for both servers!

As I was controlling Heathrow so many people where blocking the runway with this again :/

Please notice:
If you stop in front of the hold short line on the Runway side I can not clear the Runway for any other traffic! The Runway is still blocked then! Taxi beyond the hold short line, no one even minds if you request taxi to parking while already moving but please continue taxi!

Ugh I had a controlling session where every single aircraft almost stopped in the middle of the runway, changed to ground, and requested taxi to parking. All this was happening with people on short final. I ended up sending folks on go wrongs because nimrod pilots would expedite departure and refused to stop after the hold short line.

The sad thing, this is Expert server; and the majority of these people are no nimrod pilots…

Thankfully I have very few flights with nimrod expert pilots. Granted I also don’t fly as much if IFATC are not active.

Me neither, those are not really nimrod pilots but people just not knowing this…
