Plane & Pilot Flying Club offers a flying club experience unlike any other and is known throughout the community for our extremely laid back approach. It was created under one simple philosophy: that you shouldn’t have to work to be in a VO, just fly and chat with other people as you please. If you want to be a part of an Infinite Flight group but don’t have time to deal with a crew center, log all of your flights and flight hours, or be super active, Plane & Pilot is the club for you! Here you can join over 200 other members and discuss anything from Infinite Flight to the weather in your area, host or join group flights with other members, or come to one of our weekly events.
Our Slack is widely regarded as one of the most active and friendly groups in Infinite Flight. No matter how new you are, we will treat you like family and make sure that you enjoy every minute of your time with us. With up to 50 active members and 500+ messages every day, there is always a new discussion going on that you can partake in. We have a wide variety of channels that let members talk about many things including aviation, Infinite Flight, and so much more.
Plane & Pilot is a great way to fly with other Infinite Flight members. There is always a new flight going on in our group flight channel that you can join. We also offer internal events that explore new and exciting places every week for an even better experience.
As a Plane & Pilot member you will be able to compete for monthly awards including our photo contest, member of the month, and more. This is a great way to interact with others and show off your skills.
We have a small team of Slack moderators in order to ensure that our VO is a mature, productive, and enjoyable place. Each member is a veteran in our VO and was handpicked for the position for his maturity and productivity.

With over 100 public events under our belt, Plane & Pilot has created more than any other virtual organization or individual in Infinite Flight, and is known as one of the community’s too event planners. We offer a wide variety of unique events ranging from airshows and landing competitions to ultra-realistic flights and pattern work meets, and host one every week. In a community that is stuck in a norm of flying and flyouts, our goal is to think outside the box and provide unique and creative ones that bring the excitement back to participating in events.
Plane & Pilot’s primary events are some of the most creative and high-quality events Infinite Flight has ever seen. We have created numerous events including competitions, test flights, and more, insuring an amazing experience for each attendee. We hold these several weekends a month, so make sure to keep an eye out for them in #live:events!
Plane & Pilot Patterns
Based off of the original “Saturday Night Patterns” series by @Cbro4, Plane & Pilot patterns is dedicated to pilots from around the world getting together and doing touch and goes at different places. Every few weeks, our staff team will choose an underrated airport from IFATC schedule and host a controlled pattern-only event at it for one hour in order to bring the community together while helping people get the landings they need. Make sure to check #live:events every week for these unique events!
Airport Hop Events:
Once a month, our experienced training server ATC members open up a series of airports in a select reason for attendees to do touch and goes between. This is a great way to get some landing experience and help future IFATC improve their skills. Keep an eye out for these in #live:events and make sure to check out our ATC team if you want to help control them!
Still haven’t had enough of our events? Make sure to join our flying club where we host official internal group flights at different places around the world at multiple times and dates so that everyone gets a chance to participate! Just keep an eye out for them in the announcements section of our Slack!
If you have an event that you want to be as successful as possible, make sure to apply for a P&P sponsorship. Partnering with us will help your event reach a wider audience and boast your attendance rate. Sponsored events will be advertised on our Slack and event calendar, get assistance from the Plane & Pilot staff (when requested), and get to put our logo in the event description. Keep an eye out for sponsored events in #announcements on our Slack. If you want your event sponsored, please contact @PlaneCrazy or @Sashaz55 before or after you post your event, give us a summary of it, and tell us what airport, sever, date, and time it will be at.
All of our previous, current, and upcoming events (including sponsored events) will be posted on the calendar below. If you are a frequent attendee of our events, make sure to check this often so that you don’t miss anything! Note that listings that have not yet been posted on IFC are subject to change.
Plane & Pilot ATC is the only group of its kind, providing ATC to many of our sponsored and official events on training and expert, as well an evaluation and training team that lets IFATC members give feedback to new controllers looking to improve their skills. We make insure that each of our members is highly knowledgeable and skilled in different types of operations so that they can help make our events run smoothly, and that they get the practice and experience they need to become great controllers.
We offer the ability for our ATC members to request a training session. In this session, we use the large amount of pilots we have to fly at your session. We offer feedback and tips and can help you improve your controlling skills.
Controlling At Events
ATC Members at the level of intermediate or above are allowed to control at airport hop events and internal group flight. These will be available about once a month. They serve at an exposure to heavy traffic loads and can be a vital step to improve your skills. Please keep in mind that other events will be hosted on the expert server. These will be controlled by IFATC members.
Our ATC team is divided up into ranks to ensure quality ATC and training services. If you are an active member and good controller, you will move up in the ranks! Here are the requirements and privileges of each:
Trainee: This is the rank that you are first given when you join the team. As a Plane & Pilot ATC Trainee, you will be able to request ATC Training sessions and eventually pass a controller ability test (CAT) which you must pass with an 80% or higher to progress to the next level. As we want to make sure our events run as smoothly as possible, Trainees will be barred from controlling Pattern Events, as well as flyouts and other main series events. The CAT will consist of a practical section and a short series of questions to assess the Trainees knowledge of ATC procedures and systems.
Intermediate: As an Intermediate P&P ATC, you will be able to request ATC Training sessions and can pass a second controller ability test (CAT) which you must pass with an 80% or higher to progress to the next level. Intermediates will be allowed to control Tower and Ground at Pattern Events, as well as flyouts and other main series events. The only exception here is when P&P staff deem it is in our best interest to select a higher ranking member to control the event.
Senior: As a Plane & Pilot ATC Senior, you will be able to request Radar Training sessions and eventually pass a controller Radar ability test (CRAT) which you must pass with an 80% or higher to progress to the next level. As we want to make sure our events run as smoothly as possible, officers will be allowed control One Radar frequency at a time assuming they have passed the appropriate tests. They can control both Tower and Ground at Pattern Events, as well as flyouts and other main series events. This rank is obtained by promotion from staff.
Expert: As a Plane & Pilot ATC Expert, you will be the highest ranking members of our ATC system. You will be asked to come help fly at tests to evaluate other ATC members as well as help us decide who we promote to the Senior rank. You will be able to provide Radar and Tower and Ground services at all events. This rank can only be obtained by promotion from Staff and cannot be obtained through a testing process.
Specialist: Specialists have pasted both IFATC ground/tower tests and are an IFATC controller. They have the ability to give ground/tower evaluation sessions. They can also request radar evaluation sessions from officers.
Officer: Officers have passed IFATC radar tests. They have the ability to give both ground/tower and approach/departure evaluations.
Here is a full list of our ATC members, including their current rank:
IFATC: The Plane & Pilot IFATC division is a great way to interact with other controllers, help train the next generation of IFATC, and even improve your skills. Members of the team get priority to control at our Expert server events with permission from Tyler Shelton. They also help other members to better prepare for controlling at our events and IFATC training by giving feedback at our evaluation sessions. If you would like to join us, please send a PM to @Sashaz55 that includes your username on the IFATC Slack.
TSATC: If you feel confident in your ATC skills and want to provide ATC for TS1 events, aswell as get feedback from IFATC members to become a better controller, make sure to try out for P&P ATC! Requirements include: having over 250 ATC operations, having an ATC tracking thread with good feedback, being 12 years or older, and being able to score 80% or higher on a short written test.

New ATC Program
We are excited to announce that about 1 year after we closed it, Plane & Pilot ATC had been reestablished to help train future controllers who want to improve their skills and provide ATC for our training server events. If you want to develop your ATC skills but do not yet feel ready to start IFATC training, this is the group for you! @Sashaz55 will be the staff member in charge of managing this division and creating monthly events for the more experienced members. Look above for some more information about this exciting program!
Plane & Pilot has had several key changes over the past 4 years that lead to our success: December of 2016, when we started out as a small group of event creators looking to supply the IFC with unique and well-organized events, May of 2018, when we expanded out to become a full VO with a flying club for members, and now December of 2020, where I am extremely excited to announce that we will be leaving the IFC and IFVARB system to become a fully independent aviation community for all plane-spotters, flight simmers, and avgeeks alike!
That’s right! Over the next few weeks, Plane & Pilot will be transitioning from a Slack based, Infinite Flight only VO to an aviation-focused Discord server designed to bring many of the smaller aviation communities of social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, and more together under one roof. We will be one of the first universal aviation Discord communities like this, and can’t wait to get started. So, without further ado, here are the details you need to know:
We are doing this because we feel that Infinite Flight’s limited VA user base and high competition from organizations in the IFVARB system are inhibiting our success and growth. By making this transition, we are opening up to hundreds if not thousands of new users and entering a market where there is very little competition. Our goal is to bring many of the smaller aviation groups of the internet together, and we feel that there are many of those in Infinite Flight, that, when combined with enthusiasts from other sims and interests, could create something truly amazing. Our new Discord server includes many unique features to make this possible including text-only channels for all major flight sims, as well as text-only private group channels for small groups of friends.
Because this is such a large change, we have developed a step by step process to carry out through out the next few weeks in order to transition as smoothly as possible:
November 28th: Today we open up our Discord server to all current Plane & Pilot and IFC members (info on how to join below). These individuals will help test out our setup and make suggestions on how we can improve it. Meanwhile, our IFVARB approved VO and Slack will continue to operate as normal.
November 30th: After creating over 150 events over the past 4 years, our final IFC event will be posted and scheduled for December 12th. This will be a reverse-recreation of our first event, which took place exactly 4 years ago.
December 5th: We will open up our Discord server to everyone and anyone on the internet with an interest in aviation and/or flight simulation (who is compliant with our rules). It will require a lot of advertising to get the word out and make our vision possible , and we will be counting on our members to help us with this!
December 12th: Our final event (see above) will take place at 1700Z. We hope to see many IFC members there to bid us farewell! As soon as all aircraft have landed, we will officially shutdown all IFC and IFVARB operations: Our IFC thread will be closed, we will be taken off of the IFVARB database, and we will close our Slack. All of our staff, however, will continue to be active parts of this community.
We hope that many of our friends from IFC and current members from P&P will join us in this transition because we are striving to maintain the friendly, relaxed involvement that we are known for throughout this community while expanding to become bigger and better than ever before. Whether you are an active member of IFC, leaving infinite flight for a new community, or casually sticking around to keep in contact with friends, we feel that the Plane & Pilot Aviation Community will be a great fit for you! Our staff team is working hard to make this transition as smooth and easy as possible, and that’s why we are inviting current P&P and IFC members to be the very first members of our server and help us perfect things before we open up to other communities. Starting today, any Plane & Pilot member can join directly via the invite link on our Slack (IFC members can contact me). We hope to see many of you there, and will be sending out personal invitations to make sure we don’t miss anyone!
