Plane crashes next to Miramar shopping plaza, near North Perry Airport

Today Tuesday 5/12/2020 Near my area there was a academy flight, a small plane which crashed around Opa-locka Florida.

The crash involved an “advanced student and a senior instructor” at Wayman Aviation Academy, an academy spokesman confirmed. The pair were conducting a training flight.

The aviation academy is based at North Perry Airport and at Opa-locka Executive Airport.

Information about their condition was not immediately available.

Helicopter video taken by Total Traffic Miami shows the charred and broken plane upside down next to a Chase bank in a shopping plaza in the area of Pembroke Road and Hiatus Road. Firefighters sprayed the area around the plane, trying to extinguish the flames as smoke filled the air.

The plane has a large “W” printed on one of its wings.

Pembroke Pines and Miramar police are on the scene and have shut down roads in the area. Drivers are being asked to find alternate routes.

No other information was immediately available.

Hello! Unfortunately these topics about Small GA crashes are not allowed on the IFC, this is taken from the “about the #real-world-aviation category”:

Aviation Incidents

As it is an unfortunate truth that there are many small aviation incidences on a daily basis. We ask that you refrain from posting about these on the forum. This is due to the volume of topics we would otherwise get that would clog up the forum and dilute productive discussion of other topics.

Thank you for your post!
