In the past 4 months, I have had to write several incident reports on Antonov aircraft. The majority of these are An-26 incidents. All of these crashes occur in S. America or Africa. They are old airframes, with very outdated technology, often operated by inexperienced crews, or from unprepared airfields. It’s a ticking time bomb.
Luckily, the previous incidences have resulted in no deaths, and minimal injuries. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time before a fatal crash such as this one happened. Hopefully, I won’t have to write any more reports this year…
My thoughts go out to the crews who have passed away in this tragic incident.
Here is my updated incident report. I will make changes as new information comes out.
