Description
As a real life Piper archer pilot, I have noticed quite a few issues with the piper archer II that is currently in the open beta, please keep in mind that some of these issues are specific to the Archer II while others are also applicable to the wider Archer family including the III TX and LX. At the request of Laura I will jot these issues down so that they can hopefully be addressed. Without further ado here we go.
Incorrect antenna locations: the ELT antenna should be on the right side of the aircraft, and the two other antennas should be positioned one in the middle of the aircraft and one slightly offset to the left.
Incorrect Yoke: the yoke that is currently in the SIM is off of an Archer III TX LX and is the modern yoke, the Archer II has a different yoke.
Pitot Static Mast: the pitot static mast is completely missing, it should be on the underside of the left wing
Air Vents: the air vents for cabin cooling are completely missing. There are two of them one on each wing located near the wing root.
Flap Handle: when flaps 40 is engaged the handle should be almost vertical.
Attitude Indicator: the attitude indicator is missing the tick marks for climbs as well as the turns.
Annunciation Panel, the annunciators don’t light up at all. I’ve tried different lighting and I’ve put them on bright and test and I’ve got nothing.
Trim: even at 100% trim the anti-Servo tab doesn’t seem to move at all. In the real archer, the trim tab moves quite a bit and is very obvious even at the takeoff setting.
Issues with the cowling: well the general design is correct for the archer II it’s missing the alt Air opening and some cooling vents.
Floating shoulder harness/seatbelt: The shoulder harnesses for the front seats are floating in the rear of the aircraft and while it’s not technically incorrect, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t want a seatbelt smacking me in the face. If I was sitting in the back, they should either be connected to the lapbelt or put in the shoulder harness storage area like the rear seat seats shoulder harnesses are.
Livery Issue: the infinite flight Academy livery, has a modern piper logo and says archer TX. This is incorrect as the plane in question is an archer II, the TX is a modern version with a G1000 cockpit and new cowling design based of the archer III
We’re missing the fuel type sticker that should be by the fuel tank caps. I noticed the stall warning is there however the stall strips are not.
The classic cutout metal look of the piper archers is missing on all flight control surfaces. This should be seen on the tail the horizontal stabilizer not including the trim tab, the flaps and the ailerons
Some things that are really good and correct, the wheel pants are correct for the Archer II, but keep in mind that the archer LX has different wheels pants design in case you plan on making that version. Also, the cowling is correctly shaped and the aircraft is correctly shaped.
