Yep! They can. I’ve seen many pilots wear glasses.
I think so I don’t think they allow glasses in the military for pilots but I think airline pilots can
I’m not 100% sure about this tho
That is correct. Military requires perfect 20/20 vision without correction, commercial is 20/20 with glasses.
Yeah I thought that was what it was
Yes you can I believe I recommend you go talk to your AME
Yes You can, I’m a professional glasses wearer
You can on certain airframes, others require perfect vision (Thank goodness for lasix)
@Qatari2007YT I’m so sorry about that…hopefully you can peruse you goal in becoming a pilot! Hope all the best ;) -AZADAL
Yeah thank goodness for lasix
That’s not true at all, many pilots have bad vision that has either been corrected with contacts, glasses or surgery.
I corrected myself
" An applicant will be considered monocular when there is only one eye or when the best corrected distant visual acuity in the poorer eye is no better than 20/200. An individual with one eye, or effective visual acuity equivalent to monocular, may be considered for medical certification, any class, through the special issuance section of part 67 (14 CFR 67.401). "
So, yes, you CAN be a pilot with impaired vision in one eye, that does not mean it will be easy to obtain a medical certificate, not will it be very easy(but not impossible), to find an airline to work for with the condition.
Depends on your country a lot. Some countries are less strict and only care about you getting 20/20 vision while some like mine are more stringent like having a certain uncorrected pre-operative myopic degree even after 20/20 correction.
And looking for an AME is expensive. Pay to know whether you can or cannot be one, at least for me.
That’s why becoming a pilot is challenging. You got a lot more to worry about my friend, other than your medical exam.
Welcome to aviation lol it isn’t cheap. Gotta see one to get a medical anyways
I have 20/40 vision but I am working on my license right now, no glasses yet!
It wont help
Ok., I have 20/40 too
Wow, so I’ve spent the last 3 weeks trying to do contacts for nothing, with the impression that pilots don’t wear glasses. My dad told me this and “he is right” because “he would know, he works in the airline industry” but he’s not a pilot.
