Personal Experiences: Teaching an old dog new tricks

May 6th,2017
4:00pm: it’s a bright and sunny but windy day on Saturday as I prepare my Cessna 172 for a local flight too look at recent flood damage. As I get done my co-pilot pulls up and I ask him if he’s ready to go, as we both climb into the N5194F we start up and listen to the ASOS. After listening we determined Runway 19 was in use and after runup we departed to the east at 3500. After getting comfortable and flying for a minutes l, I turn to my co-pilot who is a pilot but hasn’t flown in 10 years. As he takes the controls I tell him maintain 3500 and fly me back to the airport. He was staying with 50 feet plus/minus of altitude and holding it stable. As we came in final approach, I made a soft touchdown than asked if he wanted to do some landings which he happily took. After 2 takeoff and 2 landings made by me. We put it up after an hour and a half flight. This goes to show that once a pilot always a pilot and they never loose there skill or passion for aviation
