Wow, it really has been a while since I’ve interacted with this community. Today I am officially a licensed private pilot.
I wanted to make this post because I really wouldn’t have been here if not for this community and simulator.
I used to play Infinite Flight starting in 2017 and this app really kick-started me into getting serious about becoming a pilot. I stopped in 2020 to pursue computer based flight simulators and real world flight. From Friday Night Flights to just flying on my own, this community made a huge impact on me.
My first lesson was pretty decent. Just learning the basic landing procedures and then they start to get you into the groove slowly. Learning slow flight, power on stalls, power off stalls, and then steep turns.
Make sure you save up financially and have enough time to do it. And study at least three times a week. Also finish the written exam BEFORE you even start training.
Wow, congratulations! A PPL is a great milestone and we’re really happy to have played a small part in your aviation journey :)
Keep us posted on your future aviation achievements (instrument rating next?) and make sure to take some time to enjoy some flying now without the pressure of the check ride. The $100 burger will taste even better!
I’m looking to put it in my personal statement and my CV for the future. I’m still at an age where I’m keeping my options open. Maybe flying will be a hobby for me or a job for me in the future. Practising for my PPL etc might come in the distant future. What plane were you flying?
