Part 141 Phase Check

I have a phase check tonight for my pre solo for part 141 has anyone done the oral for it? Like how do the check instructors grade it like if I do really well on everything but aerodynamics.

Oh here we go…

regulations-

medical

7 limitation and privileges,

know about the common purpose limitation preventative maintenance.,

PAVE, IMSAFE, AROMMA, NWKRAFT,

BMED- 4 things to do to get BMED,

privileges and limitations of bmed

currency and proficiency,

AV1ATES

does the aircraft airworthiness expire?

can you overfly a 100 hour? by how long? what do you need?

what are ADs?

difference between KOEL and ATOMATOFLAMES and flaps

Airspace- basic dimensions, weather minimums, entry requirements and equipment, types of airspace, know class c 20nm non depicted procedural area, know symbols on a sectional especially the ones that are around airports (hard surface other than hard surface, controlled uncontrolled , pvt airports, civilian airports etc) know airport data (AE, tower frequency know how to tell if it’s part time or not, what tells you longest runway, what tells you if it has a beacon, unicom frequency pilot controlled lighting etc

Aircraft- Angle of attack, chord line, explain a stall in detail, what is cg where is your center of pressure, what is a center of pressure Types of stability which ones we have, What controls stability on each axis, how does it control stability (what makes the aircraft go back to straight and level/ coordinated flight after being disturbed) 4- forces lift (bernoulli’s principle, newtons 3rd law of motion IN DETAIL) know what wingtip vortices are why they are formed Drag- skin friction and induced( Interference know why wingtip vortices create drag and why is increases during a climb) explain parasite drag. Know about the engine-(4HANDLE, 2700 rpm 180hp) know 4 stroke process know internal parts of your engine(crankshaft, piston)etc know how they work what they do. know about the magnetos spark plugs etc. What type of oil system do we have? (wet sump, dry sump)Oil clean, cools and lubricates Can the engine run if you have a full electrical failure? why? how much fuel can we hold? (usable and unusable)how much in each wing

FUEL SYSTEM- (SRASSPAD)know how to draw know the process of how fuel flows know what happens during each part(don’t forget fuel return line (from mixture control back to reservoir) Explain how a carburetor works and how it is succeptable to icing and what is done to prevent that. Benefits of a fuel injected system opposed to a carburetor

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM- know how to draw everything you don’t need to know what’s in elec bus 1 and 2 and avionics bus 1 and 2 (it would be great if you knew tho) KNOW your essential bus know that the standby bat ONLY powers that know the alternator powers EVERYTHING once’s its running and it also charges the batt and standby bat. YOUR STARTER little thing that pops out and spins the propeller to start 4 stroke process

Basicmed

Left turning tendencies

Echo airspace

Class G weather minimums

It may be different where you’re at, but my experience is that instructors check to see that you understand how to operate safely and are able to navigate issues effectively in any given situation. If you mess up a bit on the details but demonstrate that you can be a safe pilot (ex. knowing how the regs work, knowing how to respond to emergencies, being able to navigate airspace safely), you should still be good to go. Perfection is never the goal and it is never what you should aim for.

Good luck and godspeed!

I think I’ll pass like as long as I know 80% of each thing I should be good

I know the information its just i hope I can do it all in a 2 hour block that’s been my main thing

is the oral and the flying in the block or just the oral?

2 hours is more than enough. My oral was like 40 min and a 1.6 flight part easy pass and solo

If this is just a pre-solo oral, it’ll probably be weather information, performance and limitations, maybe a little bit of systems, and an emphasis on emergency procedures. They’re making sure you are qualified to fly in an airplane by yourself. It shouldn’t be like a private pilot checkride oral. Does your 141 provide line items for each lesson?

Just oral flying tmr maybe

Don’t worry dude, you’ll pass that jawn EZ, you got this

Every part 141 is a little different, but pre solo is pretty much the same stuff. When I went though mine, it was ATOMATOFLAMES (required equipment for day VFR), paperwork you and your plane need, what to do in an engine failure and fire, and airspace rules/regulations. Those were the main parts of mine, it’s less than what others have mentioned but my school has stage checks before the pre-solo to cover the other stuff.

Did your CFI give you a study guide? If so you’re golden, if not, as long as you were paying attention in class you’re chillin

Study for it as a PPL checkride.

My 141 pre-solo oral was like a PPL checkride minus XC scenarios and stuff like VORs

Know your specific 141 procedures and watch as many PPL mock orals as you can (my friends and I all like cheesepilot on youtube)
