Overspeed during descending

Hi, I’m new to IF and have an issue where the aircraft exceeds 250 knots during descent when under 10,000 ft (resulting in a violation unfortunately). I set the spoiler to ‘Flight,’ but sometimes it doesn’t help. I also use VNAV to descend. How can I prevent this from happening?”

Maybe your VNAV altitudes? Do you set them yourself or do you use whatever the SID/STAR has? The altitudes may have too great of a change in such a short distance between fixes and so the VNAV has to dive at -2000fpm or more to catch up.

Also some aircraft are very slippery and can’t do quick descents while maintaining speed.

E.g. the A380 you want to start slowing down to 250kts around 16-18000ft or so.

Slow down to 240kts before you reach 10000ft. When you see you start to gain speed again, deploy the speedbreaks to maintain your speed (as seen on the 777s). Once you’re near the airport and begin extending the flaps, the aircraft will lose speed without the need of speedbreaks.
