Over weight and cannot activate APPR

Flight from EGLL to OMDB. Long flight time. Final approach I cannot activated APPR due to over weight. What can I do in this circumstances?

Which aircraft are you using? If you are flying an aircraft with fuel dumb capabilities you have 2 options:

  1. Land overweight without APPR - manually fly the ILS.
  2. Climb to at least 7000ft AGL and dump fuel to be below Max Landing Weight.

If the aircraft doesn’t have fuel dump there’s either the first option or circling near the airport until below Max Landing Weight.

Two chances:

  • landing manually
  • Get rid of fuel. Some aircraft can dump fuel, some you need to circle on a hold.

That yon can not activate APPR while in overweight is intentionally. You have to do a proper fuel planning or lan manually.

Also keep a higher approach speed if you are landing manually. +10 or +20 knots. Keep flap one notch lower.
