As time goes on, the Boeing 757 is slowly becoming less and less common in our skies, being replaced by the newer aircraft. Icelandair used to have a total of 44 Boeing 757s in their fleet, however they are now down to just 6, with only a couple being used for commercial passenger services.
In some areas of the world, 757s are still relatively common, with United and Delta still operating a good few. However, here in Europe, passenger 757s are a rare sight, with Icelandair being one of the only remaining operators to fly them in the continent.
With Icelandair slowly taking delivery of brand new Airbus A321neos, I thought it would be nice to do a quick flight with my good friend @AlexTAviation4K around BIKF with these two jets side by side.
We departed Runway 19 at BIKF and flew a quick pattern back to the approach for same runway, and flew over at 1000ft together. We then broke off and met up once again on approach for runway 28 this time, doing another flyby from a different angle, with lovely views of the passenger terminal. We then broke off again and made our way back in to land on Runway 19. It was a quick flight of only 22 minutes, but was certainly an enjoyable one!
Heading out for departure

Our first flyby, standing right next to the control tower
Another shot from a slightly different angle
After a quick circle back round, we approach Runway 28 for another lovely flyby
A lovely shot as we break off and get ready to land

One final shot - the 757 pulling into stand to finish off a short but sweet flight together
I hope you all enjoyed these photos. It’s a huge shame how the 757 is slowly being retired, however we must make the most of it while it’s still around.
Have a wonderful rest of your day ![]()
