I wanted to share a slightly different perspective from the original suggestion. Rather than an open-source system where anyone can create and submit liveries, I was thinking about a small, vetted Community Livery Contributor Team inspired by the Airport Editing Team.
The idea isn’t to let the community decide what gets added or to bypass licensing. Infinite Flight would still retain full control over airline licensing, livery selection, quality standards, technical requirements, review, and final approval. Contributors would simply assist with creating liveries that FDS has already decided to pursue.
I thought this approach might help expand the livery library over time while maintaining the same quality standards. I’d be interested to hear whether others think a trusted contributor model would be more practical than a fully open submission system.
