One year ago, I reinstalled Infinite Flight after a long break that lasted from 2017 to 2024. I’ll be honest: I didn’t expect much more than a casual return. What I got instead was a platform that had evolved far beyond my expectations—and pulled me in faster than I anticipated.
The realism, the standards, the community, the pace—Infinite Flight today is on an entirely different level. When I downloaded it again a year ago, I didn’t think I’d commit nearly this much time or energy. Yet here we are.
I almost didn’t write this post. Then I noticed something interesting: my real-world flight count matched my Infinite Flight flight count. That coincidence felt like the right excuse to reflect.
It took me 25 years to log 479 real-world flights. With modern simulators, anyone—anywhere in the world—can reach the same number, or far more, in a fraction of that time. That’s something worth appreciating. It’s genuinely impressive what this platform enables.
What truly makes Infinite Flight special, though, is the people.
I’m grateful for the wider community and especially for IFATC. The balance here is rare: professionalism when it matters, support when it’s needed, and just enough chaos to keep things fun. That mix is essential—it’s what keeps the experience human. I would call out people that made it special, but then in reality, it’s so many of you that this post would get boring to read for you…
This year, I also discovered something completely new for myself: controlling. And I love it.
As a pilot, your responsibility is straightforward—get a couple hundred people safely from A to B. As a controller, the scale changes entirely. You’re managing thousands of people across dozens of aircraft, all at once, with decisions stacking up by the second. It’s demanding, fast, and incredibly rewarding. Special thanks to IFATC and ATCMH teams. You guys, are the elite and I am proud to be part of those teams!
Looking ahead to the 2026 season, I’m excited—for the new update, for hundreds more flights, for intense ATC sessions, for helping new pilots and controllers grow, and for contributing to an environment that raises standards without losing the fun.
