On this day in 1988, 30 years ago on April 28, Aloha Airlines Flight 243 suffered an uncontained fuselage failure when the roof of the aircraft was ripped off the aircraft while the Boeing 737-200 was flying from Hilo en route to Honolulu. One person, flight attendant Clarabelle Lansing, was sucked out of the aircraft and killed. There were 69 other injuries. The aircraft diverted to Kahului with no problem. Condolences to the families of those who’s family members were injured and to the family of Mrs. Lansing.
