On This Day in Aviation History: Theodore Freeman Dies

On this day (31 October) in 1964, astronaut and Captain in the U.S. Air Force Theodore Freeman died in a horrific accident while doing patterns on a training flight near Houston, Texas. He was in the first of 2 training flights, flying a Northrop T-38A. Unfortunately, he hit a Lesser Snow Goose, severely damaged the left side of the cabin, both engines flamed out, and the plane crashed one mile south of Ellington Air Force Base. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
