On Frequency - Week 3: Supersonic Travel - The future or destined to fail?

Part of the problem is taking time vs cost to a whole other level. Passenger planes already do this - the typical advertized cruise speed is around the LRC speed which uses 1% more fuel than the optimal speed. And with remote working tech growing thanks to the pandemic, travelling cross-atlantic is less necessary.

With rising fuel costs as well as a desire for the industry to meet new environmental targets, I only see this as a step backwards in that regard. From an engineering and aviation perspective it would be unbelievable to see but at what cost?

A little late but a possible electric supersonic aircraft could theoretically be possible but not in the near future

I think we definitely need to bring supersonic travel back like the concord

Very interesting discussions, thank you! New topic will follow later today 😊
