Olympic Air - Bombardier Dash-8 Q400
A little about Olympic Air:
Olympic Air, abbreviated as OA (IATA) or OAL (ICAO), are a small regional airline operating in Greece and a subsidiary of the much more well known Aegean Airlines. Many aviation enthusiasts will recognize this airline, but in fact the current Olympic Air is a completely different company that was formed after the original Olympic (of whom the 747-200 is already in IF) went bankrupt. Olympic operates 2 ATR42s, 2 Dash-8 Q100s and 8 Dash-8 Q400s. With this aircraft, they mostly operate routes across the beautiful Greek islands and mainland destination, as well as cities like Tirana or Istanbul. Olympic Air’s hub is located at LGAV, or Athens Intl. Airport. They operate about 20 to 25 routes out of this airport, as well as 5-10 further ones from LGTS (Thessaloniki) and LGRP (Rhodes). They operate a total of 31 domestic routes in Greece! For a country with a population of just under 12 million, this is quite impressive! Olympic also operate several flights for Aegean Airlines (examples: Podgorica, Malta, Dubrovnik, Bari, and so on).
Why we would like this livery in IF:
While lots of liveries of already existing airlines are added to the game, Greece is yet to have a single modern livery. This is an excellent plane for flying around the Greek islands and to nearby destinations, but also to commerate Olympic Games worldwide! Us over at Aegean Virtual (we operate all Olympic flights) would be very happy about this aircraft! Hope to see it soon! :)
Note: Some of the aircraft operated are Dash-8 Q400 NextGen’s.
