Is there any chance InfiniteFlight could offer a small download of a few planes and maybe one or two of the non-sub flight zones for full offline flying? I live in California and the power company has started a policy of shutting off power to upwards of a million homes at a time whenever the weather is above mild. With the power goes the internet and I haven’t had power since Saturday night. Luckily my subscription expired a little bit before the first power outage this month, but as you can imagine, I would’ve been a sad sad pilot if I paid for a month subscription in October and had no internet connection for 10 days out of that month.
For the record, I do want to buy another subscription, but It makes no sense if PG&E (power company) turns off power to half of the state multiple times a month over the fall/winter season.
Just give them the benefit of the doubt, there’s fires deviating California, the power and everything will be back when the company feels good with that. Until then stay safe
I understand that all scenery is streamed, that’s why I was wondering if InfiniteFlight would consider offering a location or zone download option, since 10 out of 31 days in October, I can’t play InfiniteFlight, and the power company in California has announced that “safety shutoffs” will be a regular occurrence for the next ten years.
These are safety shutoffs. There’s no fires within 3 hours of me, but my power is out for the past four days and was out earlier in the month as well “for preventative means”. They’re announcing more planned shutoffs in the coming days, and the power company said to expect these shutoffs for years until they can fix the power grid across all of northern California. As a flight simmer, I’m sure you know how big of an area that is.
I’m safe because there’s no fires anywhere near me, and benefit of the doubt doesn’t allow me to play an app that costs $5.
I know a download package for an entire zone is a big programming ask, but there’s a lot of people in California who will be affected, so there’s a large potential (and real) market of people who won’t be able to play and won’t see as much value in a subscription when they may be denied access because “InfiniteFlight is having trouble connecting to the servers. Please try again later.”
I feel like I rember this being discussed when global was first new, and that it was going to happen, guess it never did, I would love it too, just generally playing offline is something this sim should have. Competitors have it, and XPlane mobile global will have the ability to download scenery, so Inwould definitely likes to see the devs make this happen…
