Introduction

Welcome to the “Official” Guide to Bradley International Airport, in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. I am creating this guide to inform controllers and pilots about KBDL.

Bradley International Airport is my home airport. Located in Northern Connecticut, bordering Massachusetts, Bradley International is New England’s second busiest and largest airport, behind Boston. Bradley International sees 12 airlines flying to 3 different countries. Fedex, UPS, and Amazon Prime air all see daily cargo operations to BDL.

Runway Map / Airport Diagram

Main Runway is 6/24. 33/15 is ONLY used if winds are beyond maximum winds for 6/24

Runway Length
6/24 9,510ft
33/15 6,847ft

Airport Procedures / IFATC Notice

  • The DPK 3 arrival (if used for ILS approach Runway 6), MUST be flown al the way to BRISS, followed by the H06-Z approach (BRISS)
  • Visual Approach Runway 6 is at ATC discretion, but tends to follow the path of the DPK 3 arrival
*Runway 15 is RARELY used. If the winds favor 15, then Runway 24 or 6 is used by ATC discretion. Runway 15 is only used IF Runway 6/24 is closed AND the winds favor Runway 15
*Runway 33 is almost always a Visual or GPS approach
*Runway 1/19 is NOT IN USE
*The Visual Approach Runway 6 is a “low approach”, at the top of the ILS cone, aircraft altitude should be approximately 3000-2500ft

Hopefully this helps you out when you next fly into Bradley International Airport!
